I was only nineteen, when I met my husband Chris. I felt as if it were

I was only nineteen, when I met my husband Chris. I felt as if it were true love at first site! I had never met a man as handsome as he was! He had blond hair and ocean crystal blue eyes. I later learned that he was on parole and had just been released from prison.
This frightened me at first, but I longed to discover more about this mysterious man. He was a very quite individual, and spoke very few words to me. I finally introduced myself to him without postponing any time at all. We talked about adult dating and what our standards were. We both agreed that we should take things very slow due to the fact that true love sometimes is misconstrued to actually be lust. These rules in the long run become very ironic!
After about two weeks, we decided to take a road trip to his home town. We were both unaware of the fact that leaving the designated area would violate his parole conditions! A warrant was put out for his arrest almost immediately.
I felt very guilty that he was returning to prison for violating his terms of parole. I later discovered that I was with child, and was actually going to be a mother! I told Chris about the baby and he was very excited. We wrote letters back and forth, and I went to visit him as often as I could. It was very difficult to tell my family that I was pregnant by a convict. My family stated that I wasn't his wife, and should not have further contact with such an individual.
I was appalled by the reactions of my family, and the lack of support given to our relationship. The crimes that Chris had committed were when he was very young, and he was a changed man after spending a long period of time in prison. He was twenty-four years old and had been convicted at the tender age of sixteen for shoplifting.
Finally, my mother told me that true love could withstand anything. I was shocked due to the adverse change in her opinions of Chris.
I was only able to view my handsome, soon to be husband, through a very thick sheet of glass. We talked through a telephone located in small sections. After about six months of my stomach growing tremendously, Chris asked me to be his wife. We were granted permission to get married while he was in prison, but it would be under certain guidelines. I told him that I desperately wanted to be his wife, but that I wanted to wait until he was released before getting married.
Finally, on the breezy day of October he was released on another parole release. We knew to be very careful about following all the rules this time around! My family welcomed Chris, after noting my strong dedication to him during the full amount of time he was locked up.
My uncle is a preacher and married us after many months of waiting. I was now at full term and was due to have our child any day!
Only, a week after Chris was released from prison, did I deliver our first child. She was beautiful and was surely a gift from God.
We have now been married for seven years, and have four wonderful children. Chris is now no longer on parole, and we are both attending college.
Every now and again, I will think back to the very day I met my handsome young love, and know that with true love, patience and endurance is the key.
People may judge a person by their past, but people can change for the better. Chris changed and so did I, after giving him a chance for a relationship.
I will never forget those years of how a mysterious man with a horrible past changed my life.
